New York City

An important part in my book and life was the time I spent at New York Comedy Club. From 2001 to 2004, I spent more time there than my own apartment. Aside from major holidays and a few road gigs I was there every day in many capacities. From usher, to receptionist to phone operator to bouncer to beer back to late night comic to weekend comic , I lived it. There were lots of tough nights, tough sets and plenty of tears. But I cherish every moment I spent there. I learned my craft.

I was thinking where to have my book party in New York City. I thought about perhaps a swank bar or a fancy restaurant, or even a hip comedy venue. But there was only one place to have it, New York Comedy Club. It’s the first time I stepped on stage and my life changed from depression to the most amazing freedom and purpose. I met some amazing comics and witnessed incredible sets from the likes of Bill Burr, Todd Barry and the late Patrice O’Neal.

I haven’t set foot there since 2009, and I can’t wait. A big thank you to Emilio Savone for helping put this night together. I know he has put so much time into making New York Comedy Club a great relevant place. I know when I step up on stage, I’ll get that same out of body experience I did every night ten years ago.

I really hope I see all my New York friends there. Its going to be a great lineup of some of New York’s finest. I will go on a little after ten and do a set and then read a chapter. Afer the show I’ll be signing and selling.
